Pie Auction Update: Thank you to everyone who made the Pie Auction Roof Fundraiser last week such a huge success. Together we raised $8,535 towards the $350,000 goal. Many people contributed to making this a great event. Thanks to the Kitchen Committee, Ralph Gingerich, auctioneers, organizers, bakers, and participants.

Finished with your Solar Eclipse glasses? The MCEC Creation Care Resource group is collecting them for distribution to school children in developing countries. Bring them to church by Thursday April 25 and place in the basket in the hallway under the timeline (where the Lenten prayer cards were).

April 20 (Sat.) Peace and Justice Breakfast has been POSTPONED.  It will be rescheduled later in the year. Details will follow.

April 21 (Sun) Bible Quizzing Day –focusing on the Gospel of Luke (NIV), immediately following the worship service, including a light lunch. Multiple ways to participate:
Youth quizzing
Jr. Quiz
– for kids and pre-teens, (talk to Pastor Sara if interested)
Adult quizzing – sign-up sheet in the church hallway or talk to Pastor Sara
All church quizzing – just for fun, no prep needed, you will need a phone or a tablet

May 2 (Thurs) 6:30—8 pm Seniors and Jr. Youth Games Night. All
seniors are invited to join the Jr. Youth for a games night and snacks (including crokinole). Care Team is available to help organize rides.

August 12 – 16 (Mon – Fri) mornings: Baden Summer Bible Camp here at Steinmann. We are looking for volunteers for all roles. Please reach out to Courtney Hobbs or email badensbc@gmail.com if you are interested and able to help.

SMC’s New Booth at the MCC New Hamburg Relief Sale –
Volunteers Needed!:

Steinmann Mennonite Church and Conrad Grebel are together taking over the Cream Buns booth from Hawkesville Mennonite Church, who are closing this year. We need volunteers for the following roles:
Friday May 24: 2-3 people to help cut the cream buns
Saturday May 25: 8-16 people (youth & up) to prepare & sell the buns at our booth, for 1-2 hour shifts between 7am-11am.
If interested in volunteering, please speak with Pam or Steve Carter (pscarter2@hotmail.com)

We are also seeking to raise approximately $2,000 (outside of the church
budget) to cover the costs of the Cream Buns. This will be the focus of the May Special Coin Offering, but earlier donations with the
designation “Cream Buns” are welcome. Chat with Pastor Ben for more info.
Summer Sausage will continue to be sold this year. Thank you to Gord Roth for continuing to give this leadership.

Small Groups

April 24 (Wed) 10 am The Adult Bible Study led by Wes Leis will start meeting again in the fireplace room at the church. Everyone is welcome.

April 25 (Thurs) 10 amWomen’s Bible study group meeting at the church in the Fireplace area and/or Zoom. Read chapter 9 of “Let The Light In.” All women are welcome. Contact person – Darlene Gingerich.

inviting children and parents to observe a rehearsal of our Mass I choir (Training Choir and Concert Choir) at W-K United Mennonite Church (15 George Street, Waterloo). This is an opportunity to see what a choir rehearsal is like! Fall registration will begin in May 2024.

April 22 Earth Day: Marks the 54th Earth Day! Celebrated around the world since 1970, Earth Day and Earth Month (all of April!) is a good time to take action to care for our planet. Make sure to check MCC on Facebook, Instagram and X for more info on a Zero Waste Challenge on Earth Day!
