Starting September 11th we will be resuming in-person Christian Education (Sunday School) for all ages, 11:15-12p.m.

  • Children’s Sunday School (Age 2 – Gr. 4) meeting in the basement
  • Jr. Youth (Gr. 5-8) meeting in the *new* Jr Youth room (basement)
  • MYF (Gr. 9-12+) meeting in the youth room (basement)
  • Adult Ed. meeting in the Fellowship Hall (or the Sanctuary)
  • Coffee Time for those who are longing for connection and conversation, meeting in small side of the Fellowship Hall.

We are excited to experiment with an intergenerational Sunday School on the last Sunday of the month to creatively explore Bible Stories together with all ages, and build multigenerational relationships. Save the Date: Sept. 25th, the Creation Story and a BBQ!

Sept. 7 (Wed.) Morning & afternoon – All women invited to the church to knot comforters and/or quilt. Bring a bag lunch. Drinks provided.

Sept 7 (Wed.) 4:30 p.m. Peace & Justice Committee meeting on Zoom.

Sept. 8 (Thurs.) 10:00 a.m.  Women’s Bible study group is meeting at Lynelle Drudge’s backyard for coffee and discussion on the fall study.   All women are invited.  Future group meetings will take place on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, beginning on Thurs., Sept. 22nd. They will be hybrid: in-person at the church and Zoom.  For more information talk to Lynelle, Joy Wagler or Darlene Gingerich.

Sept. 13 (Tues.) 7:00 pm. – Thank you for your generous support of our Ukraine Relief focus which has enabled us to sponsor 30 relief kits. You are invited to the MCC Material Resources Warehouse adjacent to the New Hamburg Thrift Store to help pack the kits for shipment this fall. Please sign the sheet on the table by the mailboxes if you can help. Your participation is appreciated.

Sept. 11 (Sun.) 2:30 p.m. Detweiler Meetinghouse at 3445 Roseville Rd. presents the MacTalla Road Duo, performing the rich musical heritage of Scotland, Ireland, England and Canada’s East Coast. We encourage people to wear masks indoors.  An offering will be received. For more information

Sept. 14 – Nov. 23 (Wed.) 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Interfaith Counselling Centre (ICC) will be offering a support group for women who have experienced emotional or physical abuse within their intimate relationship. For more information and/or to register contact ICC at 519-662-3092.

Opportunity for volunteers to serve coffee for Sunday morning coffee time from the kitchen servery. Will begin in September. If interested, contact the Hospitality Committee — Norma Iutzi or Carol Roth  — or sign up on the sheet on the table by the mailboxes.

Parent/Child Playgroup at Shantz Mennonite Church – Join us for a weekly, drop-in playgroup! This is a chance to build connection and community with other caregivers and children. Personal Notes
Congratulations to David & Ruth Steinmann who are celebrating their 68th anniversary today, Sunday, September 4, Murray & Muriel Poole are also celebrating their 58th anniversary on Sunday, September 4 and Wayne & Joyce Leis who are celebrating their 50th anniversary on Friday, September 9.

Remember in Prayer
Pray for the family of Martha Schwartzentruber (Wilmot congregation) who passed away on Sunday, including son Mark and Joyce and their family and sister-in-law Ruby Gingerich.

We pray for Ryan Roth who is having minor surgery on September 8th.

Please keep Chris Lichti in your prayers due to complications with surgery. Pray for healing and comfort, the medical staff and his family.

Continue to pray for Ervin & Erma Steinmann, Ervin temporarily at Freeport Hospital, Erma at People Care in Tavistock.
