1. Serenades for Sam: Music has a powerful effect on the brain. It can promote pain reduction, stress relief and memory skills. Consider supporting “Serenades for Sam,” a project named after Sam Gingerich, who experienced tangible benefits from music while in hospital. Let’s bring the power of music to others affected by stroke and brain injuries! Donations will help compensate John Wiebe for his work providing music to patients. 2. Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp Bowl-a-thon fundraiser. Anthony Helmuth will be collecting donations.

Join Dr. Irma Fast Dueck at Grebel as she addresses the topic of “Take me to the Waters: Baptism, Commitment, and the Church.” Lecture on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. titled “Like a Fish in Water: Reclaiming Baptism in an Anabaptist Church,” and will facilitate a youth panel discussion on Friday, Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. on “Taking the Plunge: Young Adults and the Church.” grebel.ca/bechtel

Shirley Dunford will participate in a Mission Trip to Shirati, Tanzania with CACHA (Canada Africa Community Health Alliance), Feb. 9 – March 5. Team members will upgrade the Laboratory at Shirati Hospital and the Water Purification System for the hospital and surrounding community. Others will support “Help the Children of Tanzania” projects by teaching, working with women’s groups who have started co-operatives to provide income for their families, and helping in many other ways to improve the lives of families. For more information and to contribute charitable support for the team’s work, search online for Shirati Hospital Infrastructure Mission 2019.
